From military veteran to partnerships manager
With a comprehensive background in strategic partnerships and project management, I have polished my skills through various roles in the tech and non-profit sectors. Currently, I am serving as an Industry Partnerships Manager at Procore Technologies, where I manage relationships with various construction trade organizations. I also co-lead Procore's Veterans Employee Resource group. Prior to my role at Procore, I spent four years at Team Rubicon (a global veteran-led disaster response non-profit) on the Strategic Partnerships team. There, I coordinated employee recruitment and volunteer opportunities for corporate partners nationwide, actively reshaping corporate HR initiatives through the lens of volunteerism. In addition to my civilian career, I served in the California Army National Guard for over 8 years as an Aviation Officer, holding various roles including Flight Company Commander and Assistant Operations Officer.
My diverse experience spanning both the corporate sector and military service, along with my educational background, has provided me with a unique perspective on team leadership, strategic planning, and project execution, which I bring to my current role at Procore. I am deeply passionate about forging meaningful partnerships and driving strategic initiatives to enhance operational success.
Fostering Industry Growth Through Partnerships
In my role as an Industry Partnerships Manager at Procore, I am responsible for the stewardship of our relationships with five professional construction associations. This is a multifaceted role that encompasses a range of activities including the organization of events, the orchestration of marketing campaigns, and managing customer interactions.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is fostering education and thought leadership within the industry. An essential part of my role involves identifying potential partners and gaining a deep understanding of their specific needs. This enables me to develop partnerships that are mutually beneficial and create a synergy between us and our partners.
Working closely with a variety of stakeholders, both within Procore and externally, is a key component of my role. It's my job to ensure that the goals of our partnerships are in line with the objectives of the company as a whole. This often involves strategic planning, coordination, and a lot of communication to make sure everyone is on the same page and working towards the same end goal.
Another significant part of my role is overseeing the execution of partnership agreements. It's crucial that these agreements deliver the expected value to both parties. This involves monitoring the relationship and making adjustments as necessary to ensure everyone is getting the most out of the partnership.
My role is instrumental in expanding the company's network and enhancing Procore's presence within the industry. By forming strategic alliances, I am able to drive business growth and solidify Procore's position as a leader in the field.
It's all about connection!
Connecting with people is my primary motivation because it ignites a sense of purpose and fulfillment in me. The exchange of ideas, experiences, and perspectives enriches my understanding of the world and helps me grow both personally and professionally. The joy of building relationships, learning from others, and contributing to their lives in meaningful ways is deeply satisfying. Whether it's collaborating on a project, offering emotional support, or sharing a laugh, each interaction holds potential for learning and growth. Ultimately, these connections contribute to my sense of belonging and purpose, continually inspiring and motivating me in my endeavors.
Find your passion, identity and community
For me, Passion, Identity and Community serves as a powerful mantra for personal growth and fulfillment. Discovering your passion is the driving force that motivates and inspires you. It's the spark that ignites creativity and ambition, leading you to pursue what truly matters to you. Don't be afraid to explore different fields, hobbies, or interests until you find what resonates with you. Remember, your passion should bring joy and a sense of purpose; it's not just about what you're good at, but what you genuinely enjoy and love doing.
The journey to finding your identity and community intertwines with finding your passion. Your identity is your unique self, encompassing your values, beliefs, and experiences. It's important to reflect on these aspects and understand who you truly are and want to become. Embrace your individuality and don't let societal norms or expectations hinder your self-expression. As for your community, seek out like-minded individuals who share your interests and values. Surrounding yourself with supportive, positive individuals can greatly enhance your journey, providing both a sense of belonging and a network of encouragement. Your community can be a source of inspiration, collaboration, and camaraderie, enriching your pursuit of passion and personal identity.
Leading by Example
One of my most remarkable achievements was serving as a Company Commander of an Aviation unit in the California Army National Guard. This role required an immense level of responsibility, leadership, and technical skill. Balancing the operational aspects of aviation with the administrative and leadership responsibilities of a Company Commander was a challenging yet rewarding experience. It allowed me to make a significant impact on my unit's readiness and morale. I was able to lead and inspire my team, ensuring the highest levels of efficiency and effectiveness in our operations. This achievement not only honed my leadership and aviation skills but also instilled in me a deep sense of pride and accomplishment in my service.
