Additional information

I’m a UX design student with a background in plumbing and pipefitting, aiming to transition into product design in construction tech. I’d love your advice on how to leverage my field experience to break into this industry and gain insight into your journey. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Congrats on your journey so far! I think some others here may be better qualified to answer this but wanted to jump in with my thoughts anyway. :)
Learning how to tell your story is critical. How does your background and experience in the industry give you deeper insights into what challenges our customers are facing? How can you use this knowledge to improve our product, and solve problems for our end users? When you apply to roles, tie these points together, both on your resume and cover letter, and especially once you speak with a recruiter or hiring manager.
Good luck!
