At Procore, we understand that gaps in employment happen for many different reasons, and we certainly don’t overlook a candidate just because of them. When doing resume reviews, we focus on your overall experience, skills, and how well the candidate aligns with the role.
If you have a gap on your resume, be prepared to explain it during your conversation with the recruiter. We understand that life happens, and there are many reasons why someone might have a break in their career. Recruiters will typically ask about employment gaps to get a better understanding of your journey. For example, we might ask why you left your previous employer. But most importantly, we encourage you to be honest and share only what you’re comfortable with—whether it was due to a layoff, a family emergency, or any other personal reason. At Procore, we value transparency and appreciate the unique paths that each candidate brings to the table.
